Voting Rights 

While concerns about Diebold electronic voting machines have made headlines statewide and nationwide, scant attention has been paid to the Sequoia Voting Systems machines currently in use in Riverside County. This should be particularly alarming given recent allegations made about inconsistencies in recent local election returns, the appearance of dubious connections between Sequoia and the Registrar of Voters Office and the absence of a paper audit to provide a means of ensuring accountability. Moreover, because there is no way to check the electronic voting machine counts against a paper trail, opportunities for fraud, manipulation and stolen votes abound. Louis Vandenberg views these unaccountable electronic voting systems as one of the biggest threats to democracy and calls for the immediate suspension of electronic voting until a paper audit system can be developed, tested and proven to work properly.
